The Community Health Outreach and Planning Division is excited to be a part of your community events and programs. In addition to taking part in health fairs and community events, we also provide free presentations and trainings on a variety of topics including:
- Sex Education
- Sexually Transmitted Infections
- Nutrition
- Tobacco Education
- Physical Activity
- Stress Management
- Family Planning
- Communicable Diseases
- Personal Hygiene
Additional presentations can be developed based on your organization's need.
Freedom From Smoking
The Shawnee County Health Department has trained facilitators on staff to offer the Freedom From Smoking program, through the American Lung Association. This is a seven week, eight class series that helps individuals assess their tobacco habits, and develop a plan to quit. This group class, is offered for $40 at various times throughout the year. KanQuit
SCHD is a proud partner with the KanQuit program, which is a free individualized tobacco program open to anyone in the state of Kansas. Quit coaches are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for one on one sessions. The sessions can be completed online at or by calling 1-800-QUIT-NOW.
Tobacco 21
SCHD has partnered with local municipalities to enact Tobacco 21 ordinances in order to increase the legal age to purchase tobacco products from 18 to 21. If you would like to see Tobacco 21 enacted in your community please feel free to use the resources below to help you contact community leaders.
