Missy Middendorf, RN, BSN graduated from Baker School of Nursing with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She began her public health career in 1997 as an Immunizations, Communicable Diseases, and WIC nurse. From there she worked for the next 14 years in Home Visitation for programs known as Bright Beginnings Healthy Futures and eventually Nurse Family Partnership. Missy was one of the first five nurses in Kansas to start the Nurse Family Partnership program for Shawnee County Health Department. In 2016 she started her supervisor role as the Maternal Child Health Outreach Team Leader. In 2017 Missy played an integral part in starting our first Prenatal Education classes, Baby Basics, which utilizes the Becoming a Mom® curriculum.
Current Work
Missy was promoted to Family Health Division Manager in June 2022. She is responsible for the Maternal Child Health Home Visitation programs, Nurse-Family Partnership, Infant Toddler-TARC RN home visitor, Fetal Infant Mortality Review Program (FIMR), and Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) programs. Missy serves as the Chair-elect for the Early Childhood Collaboration (ECC). She also serves as the coordinator for the FIMR Case Review Team.
