A person who has information about a crime, has witnessed a crime or has become a victim of a crime may be subpoenaed to give testimony in court hearings. A subpoena is an order by the court to appear and give testimony under oath about a specific case. The time and date to appear is printed on the subpoena. A Trial Assistant from the DA's office is available to answer questions about the case, to accompany you to court, and to provide assistance including transportation, restitution and other concerns.

Court hearings sometimes have to be rescheduled after subpoenas have been issued and served. If you have received a subpoena, it is wise to contact the Trial Assistant whose name and number will be found printed on the subpoena. That person will be the best contact to keep you fully advised on any delays, changes, or cancellations.
